Velvet Protective Laminating | Framing without glass

Seattle-based photographer Rafael Soldi contacted us to help him explore different art papers and over-laminates with unique surface characteristics for his gallery show – Life Stand Still Here. Since these beautiful photographs were to be displayed without glass, we decided to print these on our ArchesĀ® Rag Photographique cotton paper with a special Matte Velvet laminate that eliminated the need for costly Museum Glass or Acrylic. To learn more about our Velvet Laminate, check out our Mounting & Laminating page.

Thank you for responding to my request! I look forward to receiving the samples. I have heard many great things about The Color Group and have seen some of your work around the UW campus.

The resulting prints were rich with detail and nearly impossible to tell a protective laminate has been applied. This combination of smooth cotton rag paper and velvet laminate is a wonderful way to display framed prints with out the glare of glass.
